Heating of polyacrylamide
When polyacrylamide is heated, crosslinking occurs with loss of H2O and NH3. Above 140 ° C, imido rings form with elimination of NH3.
- Imidoring structure
- In general, polyacrylamide is sensitive to saponification and crosslinking, so that completely linear and "non-ionic" (i.e. unsaponified) polymer can only be obtained with special precautionary measures.
