Where does the odor from our perspiration come from?

The odor of our perspiration, the body odor, is due in part to the carboxylic acids.

Sweat eliminates many organic substances, which are broken down by bacteria in our skin into unpleasant odor compounds such as 3-methyl-2-hexenoic acid.

To counteract these acids, the odor, many talc and deodorants contain sodium bicarbonate.
